Color in Motion
The Color in Motion exhibition at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures was a visually and sensorially rich exploration of color in cinema. Visitors moved between darkened, cinematic environments and bright, interactive spaces, experiencing color as both an artistic and emotional force.
Highlights included the Lumigraph—a hands-on color-and-motion instrument accompanied by a live symphony—and interactive light walls that encouraged movement, play, and dance. The mix of physical artifacts (film costumes, pigment swatches, camera technology) with immersive digital displays created a layered storytelling approach.
The overall feeling was one of wonder, joy, and creative freedom. The interactivity encouraged personal expression while remaining deeply connected to the cinematic heritage on display.
